Statement to our fans from the Backstreet Boys regarding Kevin Richardson departure from the group:

“Earlier this year, after much soul searching, Kevin Richardson came to us and told us that he had decided to leave the group and pursue other interests. He gave his blessing to continue the music without him.

We have no intention of replacing Kevin, and the door will always be open for him to return to the Backstreet Boys. We wish him the all the best in his future endeavors.

This weekend we are returning to the studio to begin the follow-up to Never Gone, and will see you later this year with a new album.”

Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell and AJ McLean

Statement from Kevin Richardson

“After 13 years of what can only be described as a dream come true, I have decided that it is time to leave the Backstreet Boys. It was a very tough decision for me but one that was necessary in order to move on with the next chapter of my life. Howard, Brian, Alex and Nick will always be my little brothers and have my utmost love and support. I would like to thank the Backstreet fans for all the beautiful memories we have shared together and look forward to including you in the next phase of my life. I wish my brothers continued success and look forward to their new album.”

Kevin

It's time for another update! Mini paragraphs for each update :)

I'm moving out! I was going to move out with a friend, but first i am moving in with Adam and Katie in the house that Adam bought, just a few blocks from my house. I'm really excited about it! I have almost everything i need except a dvd player and my mattress and bedding. I can't wait! Moving out in July...wow! That's one month from now :O

So, a coworker is leaving my room at work :( She is moving to an older age group, and I know she will be happier there, since that is her forte for sure. It will be sad to see her leave the room though, as I love talking with her, and hearing her stories. I know she is just down the hall, but it's not going to be the same. But, I do know that this will be a new opportunity for me to get to know someone new who joins our room. I'm so excited for that :D

I'm doing better since my last journal entry. I'm no longer upset about being alone. I've just come to accept it, and know that if I'm meant to be with someone, then it will happen. And that thing with Kyle the landscaper? I haven't seen him on the bus at all this week, so I'm just going to chalk it up to be a "moment" that is now gone and in the past. Ah well...

So, there's a bear that has been spotted around waterloo region! At work, we're putting up a giant Waterloo region map, and putting on pins of comfirmed sightings and then other pins of uncomfirmed sightings. I hope, hope HOPE it doesn't come near my house!

Hey Lise, thanks for the comment! No, you don't sugarcoat it for me regarding guys - you actually encourage me :) And though you had it "easy" you also had to go through a lot to get where you are, and I can tell it was all worth it :) BTW, if you don't mind me asking...who is the one who is getting an invitation and you're not trying to impress? LOL..only if you want to tell haha. Can't wait for CM at cost ;)

I'm going to Grand Rapids Michigan on June 18th-19th with Bec, Mel and Pam...gonna be good times! We're going to see Brian Littrell's concert at The Intersection, and i Know it's going to be a good time ;) I know there's gonna be pretty much the whole ww crew there, haha...like Pink Posse, Michigan Girls, etc. NUTS! It's gonna be like the same crowd as Toronto, but hopefully we won't be robbed :S

Anywhoo, I'm gonna jet..more tomorrow!!

Mel

Baby Steps

Well, so here i am writing another journal entry :P I need to start writing in here more often! :P

Well today was VERY intersting, I must say. To make along story short, I am having difficulties with someone at work. There is a certain person who refuses to participate in necessary routines and transitions while covering lunch breaks in my room. For those of you who don't know, I work at a daycare. Well in a roundabout way, a person called me fat. And not just "you're fat!" but there was logic behind it. I don't want to go into details, but it hurt, especially when said person oversteps their "authority" in the room and tells people what need to be done....that REALLY gets my blood boiling!

On the complete flip side...I met a guy! Ok, ok, I didn't *really* meet a guy. But rather, he takes the same bus as me every day. By my powers of observation, i know his name is Kyle, and that he works for some landscaping company. I feel weirdly drawn to him, cheesy as it sounds. And every day I want to talk to him, but I'm really scared. By attempting to talk to him,i feel as though I'm making myself vulnerable to hurt. And I've blocked out hurt by making myself unavailable for so long. I haven't been dressing as nice as I could, I haven't been as outgoing, I have shyed away from talking with guys a fair amount..and, the big one is that I have gained A LOT of weight. It may not seem it to some, but I have gained over 30 pounds since high school, and I sometimes cry when I think about it. I subconciously gained this weight, so that no guy would ever find me attractive, so then I wouldn't want to be hurt. Sure, there have been "crushes" here and there, but that's where it ends, and I don't let myself for one second think that it could be more than that someday, because that opens me up to hurt.

Ok, so I really rambled up there, haha! Point being, I'm scared to talk to him...I'm afraid if I say hi, that he'll make this face: :S and give me the brush off. One tiny little step for me, could end up being a horrible rejection that would ripple effect into my whole self image. Isn't that sad? I dont' know if "putting myself out there" is an insult to God, in a way, either. All of my friends from church, etc. tell me that God has created someone for me to be with, and I will be brought together with him when the time is right. Well, what if that is just one big load of crap to keep the fat and ugly people from thinking their life is empty? What if there really is no one for me? I dont' know what I'd do. I wish I knew for sure what my life would end up like...because right now, I sure as heck don't know. And that scares me. A lot.

And that concludes my heart wrenching journal entry for tonight! Sorry for those who read it, I know it was very pessimistic. And you people who have told me time and time again to have confidence and faith, will probably want to smack me for "not getting it yet" LOL. I'm trying though, just know that. Baby steps.

Work tomorrow and then it's off to Bethany Evangelical Missionary Church for a pampering night :) Should be good times with Lisa and Tryna :D

quick shoutout for E: thanks for always brightening up my mornings (ok, that was the cheese...almost as cheesy me being upset that your boyfriend has a life away from work :P)

I'm out

Mel

    <lj:music>The Luckiest - Ben Folds</lj:music>

Could I ever be loved? I never used to think so. I have a folded up piece of paper in my wallet, that is quite battered. I wrote it when I was 16, and it talks about where I saw myself when I was 80. Some people have read it, but many have not. In a nutshell, I thought I would be alone forever. I'd see all my friends get married, and I'd be all alone. You see, I was a serial crusher. I'd like a guy, get to a point where he'd be dating someone I was forced to get over him, or I would build up the courage to tell him how I felt. Not to see if he felt the same way (i never expected any guy to ever reciprocate), but to get it out in the open so it would go away. I don't know what has changed lately, but I feel like I'm changing emotionally. It started most recently with my weight gain. I have gained 30 pounds this year. NOT healthy at ALL! I feel horrible, and i don't like the way I look. so my mentality is, why would any guy like the way I look? I think I have subconciously been trying to gain weight so that no guy finds me attractive, so that I can't get hurt. I'm in my comfort zone. And I don't want out...yet I do. I am joining weight watchers this week, so that I can actually get on the right path and feel healthier, and eat right again. Develop healthy eating habits and such...

So right now, I'm trying really hard not to let friendships with guys get me thinking that I "have a chance with them". I am hopeless romantic (heck, look at my user icon!), and I just want that day to come where I'll get to be closer friends with a guy, and he'll make his intentions known..maybe hold my hand, ask me out for a date...and yet, I don't even realistically know if this is possible for me? I always get the whole "Someone is out there for you, Mel" speech, but...in all honestly, there are nice people who have faith that God has the right person for them...and they never get married! I don't know what to think anymore. Is the one out there for me?

What do you think? I'd love to hear any and all comments.
Two others have done it, so I might as well too :P

Name 20 people you can think of off the top of your head:
1. Jessica
2. Ainsley
3. Mark
4. Heidi
5. Cheryl
6. Dan
7. Lisa
8. Aaron
9. Laura
10. Brian
11. Geoff
12. Matt
13. Nick
14. Leanne
15. Meghan
16. Katie
17. Jenn
18. Beth
19. Nic
20. AJ

1. How did you meet 13?
Haven't met him....yet ;) Still hoping for someday. Closest I've came was September 10th and 11th.

2. What would you do if you never met 10?
I wouldn't have had nearly as many laughs as I've had in my life.

3. What do you honestly think of 5?
She's never frustrated when I have to ask for guidance, and she's an awesome person who really knows how to be silly and let loose!

4. Have you ever stayed up all night talking to 4?
I think at a sleepover, yeah. We've talked for quite a while sometimes.

5. If 19 died tomorrow, what is one thing that you would need them to know?
That I appreciate his friendship over the years, and that I've seen him grow an incredible amount in the past decade.

6. Would 6 and 12 make a good couple?
Um, no. Considering one's married.

7. Would 3 and 8 make a lovely couple?
Again, no.

8. Do you know any of 18's family members?
Sure do! I know her sister, her parents, a couple of cousins, and I've met some aunts, uncles and grandparents.

9. On a scale of 1-10 how cute is 14?
10, she's super-cute! :D

10. What would you do if 3 just professed their undying love for you?
probably shudder in fear because he's my cousin :P

11. What language does 19 speak?
Hockey

12. Who is 8 going out with?
No one that I know of.

13. When was the last time you talked to 18?
Yesterday on the phone.

14. What is 9's favorite band?
I honestly don't know. I'm thinking Tragically Hip, but I'm not completely sure.

15. Does 2 have any siblings?
Yup, she has a younger brother.

16. Would you ever date 7?
Nah, I don't go that way.

17. Do you think 6 is hot?
I think he's attractive, yeah.

18. Is 15 single?
Sure is.

19. What is 3's middle name?
I think it's William, after his dad.

20. Where's 20?
Hmm, let me check...he's somewhere in the states right now, not sure where. Probably on the way to NY for the Jingle Ball.

21. What is 12's biggest wish?
To have a healthy baby very soon :) I think it's also to see his dad again someday.

22. Would 15 and 20 make a good couple?
My little cousin and a Backstreet Boy who's 14 years older than she is? I think not :P

23. What school does 10 go to?
He isn't in school as far as I know.

24. Have you ever had a dream about 1?
Yeah, I've had random weird dreams that she's in.

25. What school does 17 go to?
She isn't in school right now.

26. Where does 9 live?
New Hamburg

27. Would you make out with 11?
uhh....that's a strange question. I guess if I was dating him for a long time?

28. Are 5 and 16 best friends?
Nope.

29. What is the coolest thing about 4?
She comes out with the most awesome, random funny moments that you cannot possibly anticipate! That, and she knows how to make things really cute!

30. What is the most annoying thing about 5?
She usually ends sentences towards me with "my dear". That kind of bothers me, lol.

31. What is 13s mom's name?
Jane.

32. Name 1s siblings in order by age.
Shane, 17 i think.

33.What is 16s last name?
Taylor.

34. What grade is 7 in?
She's graduated from school already!

35. Would you ever spend the night at 11s house?
Done that before, but it wasn't his house back then ;)

36. What was the last thing u ate with 4?
I can't remember. It was some snack food in my basement while we watched movies.

37. What do you hate about 14?
Absolutely nothing!

38. What is 17s dad's name?
I can't remember. I met him once for 10 minutes in 2001.

39. Can you trust 20 with your life?
I've never really given him the chance...there was one time he didn't run me over with his tour bus...does that count?

40. What was the last thing you said to 2?
"talk to you later"

Holy updates! WHOA! My BSB adventure and more!

    <lj:music>Watching Entertainment Tonight.</lj:music>

So I’ve been told at least one person checks my journal to see if it’s updated…Hooray! I have a fan :P LOL! This will be a MEGA update, since I haven’t written in a long LONG time.

I’ll start with the BSB concert. I’m offline now, so I don’t know when my last update was, and if it talks about the Backstreet Boys weekend! Here goes!

Before the Kitchener show on Saturday, September 10th, I along with others that I know, kept calling the Aud to ask them if we were allowed to camp out overnight for the General Admission seating. We kept hearing the answer “No, you will be removed from the premises if you try and camp overnight”. So along comes Friday night, I had just got paid, and my friend “A” and I decided to do some pre-Backstreet show shopping, and just camp out crazy early in the morning J! I bought LOST on DVD, Lilo and Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch, silver sharpie permanent markers (since I was going to see bsb Sunday in London at their soundcheck. Anyway, bought some stuff and then on the way home from Fairview, we decided to just take a quick peek at the Ottawa St. entrance where we were to line up Saturday morning. We were surprised to see close to 20 people out front! We pulled up and asked the girls if we were there for the concert, and they said yeah! I eventually found out that this was Cait and Robyn from the Official Backstreet Boys fanclub, Weird World. It was awesome to meet them and we’ve been talking ever since! They’re part of the Pink Posse, a bunch of girls who met up and went on a BSB road trip, and wore pink glowsticks at the Kitchener show so they could find each other! I wanted to be a Pink Posse girl, but…I was too late :P Maybe if I’m real nice they’ll let me join now for the next time haha. So anyway

A and I BOOT it to my house, she drops me off and I frantically gather things for the night! Multiple sleeping bags, chair, lots of warm clothes, etc. Oh, and on the way to my house, A and I stopped at Sobey’s to pick up munchies for the night. My mom, sister and I picked up A at her house and then headed off to the Aud. My sister decided not to stay the night, because she wasn’t comfortable being out there that long, and it was cold, etc. So I set up a chair for her for when she came in the morning.

The girls that camped behind us were cool, and it was funny because one of them is dating a guy A and I went to school with for high school, and I’ve known him since Junior High! I hadn’t seen him for two years so that was good to catch up.

After a trip or two to Tim Horton’s to pick up a cappuccino and a box of timbits for the night. We ended up having to use the bathrooms there several times during the night as well.

There was a cat that hung around us! Pat the Cat! I will always remember him as the cutest mascot EVER! He was cold at one point, so he curled up on my lap, and I covered him with my extra coat thatI brought. I know none of us will ever forget him! The pink posse girls set him up with some food and water at the front of the line, and in the morning, some people saw a Lost poster and it was for him! His real name was Rusty, and he was returned to his owners, happy and full of food :D
At 1am, or around there, A and I ordered pizza from Domino’s Pizza. I bet the guy never would have thought he’d be delivering to a lineup in front of the Aud, haha. Anyway, the pizza was great, but we only ate one between the two of us, and we even shared with the people around us! A and I tried to sleep in shifts, so if anything happened, we could wake the other one up. Well at about 4:15 am, when I got about 15 minutes sleep, A screams “MELANIE!!!!!!!!!” and I wake up to see about 4 transport trucks pulling into the Aud. We knew that it would just be their stage, equipment, etc. but we were SO excited because that meant they were REALLY coming! It was finally sinking in that I would be seeing the boys in my city! AHH!

Morning rolls around, and I was sick as anything. I’ll spare you the details, but it was just bad all around. I barely made it to Tim Horton’s in time to get into the bathrooms. Ugh. Stupid me eating pizza that early in the morning! When I came back, Heidi, my mom, and my sister showed up. It was then that all of us in line found out that the Aud had been open all night, so I walked to Tim Horton’s for no reason :P But yeah, the stage was all set up and I got to go “backstage” lol...Just the basic stage was set up, so I got a pic of me touching it. Yeah ;)

That’s all I’m going to update for now. I just heard a rumour that BSB are possibly doing a New Year’s Eve show in Canada! Either Toronto or Montreal. Either way, I’m so there!!

Talk to you all soon,

Mel

So I haven't written in a while...Let's see...what's happened...

I went to Kids camp and Family camp at Miller Lake for two weeks in July. It was completely fantastic, I had so much fun!!

I went to a Backstreet Boys COncert in Toronto with Heidi, Cat, Mel, Kate, Kate's friend and Mary-Kay...it was awesome!! I can't wait to go again..oh yeah, definitely going again!! This Friday night after work, Ainsley, my sister and I are camping out in front of the aud, to get good seats for the show on Saturday night! It's going to be great...games, fun, food...it's going to be so much fun. The day after that, I'm going to Stratford, meeting up with a friend, and we're heading down to London with her cousins to see Backstreet Boys (yes again) at John Labatt Centre ;). She won two soundcheck passes, so I'm going to that and I can't wait!!!!! We get to be so close to them (within the first few rows), watch them practice some songs, ask them questions, give them things, shake hands....so flipping excited!!!!!

My good friend Lindy went to Texas for a year! She's at Honour Academy...and I'm praying for her all the time :) I miss her a lot! Praise God for hotmail and MSN Messenger!!! :D

Hmm...what else is happening...our bathroom floor is brand new :) Nice blue tiles!

Heidi and I have started checking out apartments around the KW area...we went to Ikea one Saturday morning, had breakfast, and bought stuff for the apartment. We bought mirrors, towels, a lamp, a shower curtain, window hangers, mesh hanging nets, ice cube trays, bath mat, bowls, candles, candle holders, a vase, a toilet brush, and a couple other things I can't remember right now. I'm really excited :D

I think that's about it for now....I'm watching The OC season 2, dvd 1 right now. It's on the episode where they all go back to school. Next tuesday, the 13th, I'm buying The OC seasons 1 and 2, Lost Season 1, and Lilo and Stitch 2: Stitch has a Glitch. Speaking of Stitch, Tryna gave me a cardboard standup figurine of Lilo and Stitch, and I'm way excited! Thanks hun!!!

Talk to y'all later...if anyone reads this :P

Mel

Heart Song

Once upon a time there was a great man who married the woman of his dreams. With their love, they created a little girl. She was a bright and cheerful little girl and the great man loved her very much.

When she was very little, he would pick her up, hum a tune and dance with her around the room, and he would tell her, "I love you, little girl."

When the little girl was growing up, the great man would hug her and tell her, "I love you, little girl." The little girl would pout and say, "I'm not a little girl anymore." Then the man would laugh and say, "But to me, you'll always be my little girl."

The little girl who-was-not-little-anymore left her home and went into the world. As she learned more about herself, she learned more about the man. She saw that he truly was great and strongm for now she recognized his strengths. One of his strengths was his ability to express his love to his family. It didn't matter where she went in the world, the man would call her and say, "I love you, little girl."

The day came when the little girl who-was-not-little-anymore received a phone call. The great man was damaged. He had had a stroke. He was aphasic, they explained to the girl. He couldn't talk anymore and they weren't sure that he could understand the words spoken to him. He could no longer smile, laugh, walk, hug, dance or tell the little girl who-was-not-little-anymore that he loved her.

And so she went to the side of the great man. When she walked into the room and saw him, he looked small and not strong at all.he looked at her and tried to speak but he could not.

The little girl did the only thing she could do. She climbed up on the bed next to the great man. Tears ran from both of their eyes and she drew her arms around the useless shoulders of her father.

Her head on his chest, she thought of many things. She remembered the wonderful times together and how she had always felt protected and cherished by the great man. She felt grief for the loss she was to endure, the words of love that had comforted her.

And then she heard from within the man, the beat of his heart. The heart where the music and words had always lived. The heart beat on, steadily unconcerned about the damage to the rest of the body. And while she rested there, the magic happened. She heard what she needed to hear.

His heart beat out the words that his mouth could no longer say...

I love you, I love you, I love you
Little girl, Little girl, Little girl

And she was comforted.

- Patty Hansen
